Thrifty Car Rental company is currently owned by the holding company Dollar-Thrifty Automotive Group, a company formed in 1990 by the Chrysler Corporation. Forty-six percent of Thrifty's retail outlets in North America are franchised and owned by independent businesses that are granted licenses and rights to use Thrifty technologies and marketing materials.
