Skin Problems From Lipitor

Lipator is a drug used to treat high cholesterol, which could potentially lead to heart disease. Like most drugs, Lipator does have some adverse side effects. In a small percentage of patients (less than 3.8%) one of those side effects is skin problems. While very rare, here are some of the potential skin problems you could get from using Lipator. If you think you are experiencing any of these problems due to taking Lipator, you should contact your doctor immediately.

  1. Hives

    • Using Lipator could potential cause hives, which are welts that are small in size and itch.

    Angioedema

    • Angioedema is an allergic reaction to the medicine. With Angioedema you would suddenly start to develop hives particularly in your face and throat with swelling that could prevent you from breathing.

    Flushing

    • One of the less serious skin reactions to Lipator is simple blushing. Blushing is a redness of the skin that typically happens when a person is nervous, embarrassed, or overheated. Flushing typically happens on the face and does not itch, burn, or peel.

    Erythema Multiforme

    • Erythema Multiforme is a red rash that typically starts on your arms and legs and can include pimples, blisters and mouth lesions.

    Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis

    • Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis is a skin rash that causes intense redness and peeling. To many people it may look like you've gotten a very bad sunburn.
