Brick Siding Advantages

Brick siding costs more than other choices, but when you look at its advantages, the difference will not seem so great. These advantages will ultimately end up saving you money and worry. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Value

    • Brick adds value to your home. People simply like it. Brick gives house the look of a high-priced home. Having brick siding can be the reason why a buyer will choose your house instead of the one down the block.

    Maintenance

    • Other siding choices will need to be painted, cleaned or stained at some point. Brick siding doesn't. It will change color a bit, giving the brick the look of age, but that is desirable and adds character to a home.

    Fire Resistance

    • A brick home will not burn. Even if there is a devastating fire inside the home, the exterior should remain standing. If there is a fire on the outside, the brick siding will offer protection to the inside of the home. This saves you money on insurance premiums.

    Energy Savings

    • Brick is thick and solid, making it a natural insulator. It help keep the interior temperature from going from one extreme to another. The heat or air conditioner will not be constantly starting and restarting, meaning your energy and electric bills will be smaller.

    Insects

    • Insects such as termites and carpenter ants can eat their way through other types of siding. They can't get through brick. Once these insects get in a home, they can destroy the walls and beams and other wooden parts. Replacing a beam is not only expensive but you will have to leave the home while it is being done.

    Durability

    • Every type of siding comes with a warranty. None of them comes close to the one you get with brick. Some manufactures guarantee their brick siding to last as long as the house does and beyond. Brick is strong enough to stand up to a powerful storm, while others will be blown away.

    Variety

    • When you think brick, you probably think red with ridges. That is one choice, but there are many more. Bricks also come in smooth styles, in different shades of red and in other colors as well. You can pick a style of brick that gives your home a classic or a modern look.
