About Moose ATV Plows
All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are designed to handle whatever weather comes their way. Snow is no exception, which is why a plow is an important component for those who drive their ATVs on roads that rarely see a plow during a snowstorm. The Moose Utility Division manufactures several snowplow components, designed to fit your needs based on where you live and what you like. When selecting a Moose ATV plow, you will need to decide on the width and type of plow blade that works best for you, and what type of lift you prefer.

Choose a Moose Plow Blade
-
When purchasing an Moose ATV plow, you will have to decide between a 50- or 60-inch wide plow, as well as whether the standard or county plow blade best meets your needs. The 50-inch moose plow blade clears a 44-inch swath of snow, and the 60-inch blade's swath is more than 53 inches. Even the smallest ATVs can drive forward with a 60-inch snow-filled blade. The real question to ask yourself is how well can you control your ATV when turning during these circumstances without hitting the plow with the wheel or running into deep snow.
Where you live will be the biggest factor in terms of which plow blade you choose. The 26-inch high Moose County plow blade is designed to handle long hauls of deep snow, while the Moose Standard blade is 16 inches high and works best on short stretches with snow that is only moderately deep.
Pick Your Lift
-
All snow plows need to be lifted into position to push snow out of the way. Most ATVs work well with either a manual, EZ, electric or winch lift. Moose makes all four types of lifts for many different ATV brands. What you choose will depend on your particular ATV, your budget and your personal preference:
- A manual lift lets you lift the plow by using a handle, lift rod, bell crank and lifting chain. Manual lifts are fast, economical but labor intensive.
- An EZ Lift has a spring-assisted lever that must be manually worked but takes less strength than a manual lift.
- An Electric Lift has a cable that runs off the car battery to move the plow. Lifting a plow into place couldn't be easier.
- Winch lifts not only lift the plow, they also serve to knock anything else out that gets in your way when you are trying to drive out of a tough spot. -
Moose ATV Plow Accessories
-
In addition to snow plows for ATVs, the Moose Utility Division also sells accessories to make plowing snow a bit easier. Consider buying tire chains to help your wheel traction when maneuvering through snow, or even an ATV cabin that can be easily installed to keep you warm and dry when tackling snow removal.
Sport ATV Owners Are Out of Luck
-
Moose Utility Division snow plow kits are primarily for four-wheel drive ATVs, although there are some kits for ATVs with two-wheel drive. Moose does not make snow plows for sport ATVs.
Choose Your Tires Wisely
-
All tires suffer from wear and tear. ATV tires are no exception. For maximum efficiency and to minimize wear and tear when plowing snow and traversing harsh terrains, make sure any tires you buy are no more than six inches wider than your existing rims.
