Goji Berry Juice Side Effects

Goji berry juice is composed of both Chinese and Himalayan goji berries. Though the goji berries taste slightly different from each other (the Himalayan ones are bigger and sweeter), they both have equally effective health and nutrition benefits. Goji berry juice is believed to have a bevy of health benefits, from anti-aging benefits to aiding weight loss and plenty more. As with any type of dietary option, there are some possible side effects associated with consuming goji berry juice.

  1. Function

    • Goji berry juice is believed to have a wide variety of health benefits, including improving vision, enhancing the function of the immune system, making the legs stronger, protecting the liver, improving fertility and sexual functions, enhancing circulation and promoting a long lifespan.

    Benefits

    • Many proponents of the health benefits of goji berry juice believe that it has no negative side effects and state that there is no specific prescribed amount that an individual can consume. Many people who are fans of goji berry juice believe that any person can drink goji berry juice in whatever quantity. However, there are others who believe that there are some negative effects from the juice.

    Alertness

    • It is not recommended that people drink goji berry juice before bedtime, as it is believed that alertness is a "side effect" (though not necessarily negative) of drinking it. It is believed that if you consume goji berry juice shortly before bedtime, you will have a very difficult time falling asleep.

    Allergic Reactions

    • According to the American Chronicle, goji berry juice drinkers should be careful when mixing the juice with other fruits, as potential allergic reactions could occur from the blend. Also, it is believed that there are possibly negative side effects of pregnant women consuming excessive amounts of goji berry juice.

    Warning

    • Individuals taking any prescription medications that contain coumadin (commonly referred to as Warfarin) should consult a healthcare professional before drinking goji berry juice, as there is the possible contraindication of taking both together that could result in dangerous bleeding episodes.
