Computers are a part of everyday life for many people. After spending hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on a computer, spending even more money for computer training and instruction is often not very appealing. Fortunately there are several organizations which offer free online computer instruction. Some computer courses have online instructors to help guide students through the coursework, while other courses have discussion forums. Some computer course websites even offer certification training.

It offers free online instruction in a number of subjects from computer basics to software programs, some of which are offered in both English and Spanish. Classes are available to learners worldwide, and the website features a number of online instructors, along with a blog and materials which each learner can print for his or her personal use.

    • Learnthat.com offers a range of computer courses, including certification tutorials and certification courses, along with non-computer courses ranging from business to home repair. The site also includes a discussion forum, informative materials, newsletter subscriptions and a blog. All course offerings are free.

    Education Online for Computers

    • Education Online for Computers features a low-cost paid course option and a generous selection of free computer courses. The free courses are focused on a number of Adobe and Microsoft programs. The website also offers a newsletter subscription and a blog, but no online instruction.

    Free-ed.net

    • Free-ed.net is a portal for free online education in a number of subjects, including computer courses. The computer courses offered are geared especially to computer programmers, featuring courses in C++ , Perl and Fundamentals of Red Hat Linux. The computer course offerings on the website are free; however, there are no online instructors available.

    MIT OpenCourseWare

    • Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) also offers a variety of free computer courses as part of its online OpenCourseWare program. The computer classes at MIT are more traditionally academic than other course offerings. All courses and materials are free. However, there is no online instruction and students are not eligible for MIT certification or credit.

    Jefferson H.S. Free Online Computer Lessons

The website has organized the existing class listings by operating systems, common applications, Internet lessons, networking, programming ,miscellaneous courses and learning libraries. There is no instruction for any of the computer courses listed available directly from the website; live links lead to the courses of interest.
