Star Foundation "Naming Stars for Charity" is an organization that aims to create support and awareness for its charity partners by allowing people to purchase stars and then name them. Not only does a person get the gift of being able to buy a star and give it a name, but that person's money will go toward an excellent cause---charity. The stars that are listed in the International Astronomical Union are the ones that are named by the charities and those who donate to them.

There are a lot of different charities that partner with the Star Foundation. Some of the notable charities include Toys for Tots Foundation, Wings Foundation, Dream Foundation, Tu Nidito and Texas CASA. However, charities are always free to sign up for membership in the Star Foundation.

If you want to donate to the Star Foundation and name a star yourself, you can do so by visiting the official charity Web site and paying with a credit card or by printing out the order form and sending in either a money order or a check to the foundation's corporate address.

The Star Foundation offers three types of stars that you can buy and name. You can choose between the Standard Star ($39.95), Deluxe Star ($69.95) and Ultimate Star Gazer ($99.95) packages. These prices do not include shipping. The more expensive the package you purchase, the more money goes to the charity of your choice.

To figure out the percentage of the proceeds that go directly to the charity partners, the percentage of advertising dollars that were used to get a "Star" purchased in the first place must be considered. Since the Star Foundation's advertising and marketing costs always change, the total amount that goes back to the charities always changes as well.
Other Products

There are other products you can purchase through the Star Foundation, for example, Star Foundation blankets made of fleece, a "Star Pal" stuffed toy, a star lapel pin and an astronomy kit. These products' proceeds also go to charity.
