The United States Army is respected and known throughout the world as the biggest fighting force in America. The Army has a reputation for having terrific training and top of the line soldiers. Since the Army has responsibility for the majority of land-based operations in the U.S. military, it is often believed to be the strongest and most powerful as well. More than 500,000 soldiers serve in the Army in active duty capacity. There are a lot of different careers that people can pursue in this branch of the Armed Forces.

    Identification

  1. There are practically endless different career paths to pursue in the Army--many of which are applicable in civilian life as well. There are more than 120 occupations in the Army Reserve and over 150 for soldiers that are on active duty. From being a medical assistant to helping to repair helicopters, the options are diverse and exciting.
  2. Arts, Entertainment and Media

  3. There are a lot of different media and arts careers in the Army. Some career paths include graphic designers, broadcast technicians, translators, musicians and journalists. These careers comprise the communication, supervision and administration sectors of the Army.
  4. Combat Support and Intelligence

  5. These Army careers offer support for personnel in the Army that work directly in combat. From providing intelligence and support to soldiers on the field, career possibilties include topography specialists, interpreters, intelligence analysts, interpreters, food service and watercraft operators.
  6. Mechanics

  7. There are a lot of mechanics-related career options in the Army as well. These jobs include maintaining Army machines and vehicles and keeping everything working properly and safely. Some jobs in this field include cooling and heating mechanics, and mechanics who work watercraft and heavy equipment.
  8. Computer Careers

  9. The Army also provides a lot of computer and technology career choices. There are a lot of positions in communications, computers, intelligence, environmental health, explosives, vehicle operations and more. These careers often involve both informational and technical support for a diverse range of fields.
