- Black Friday is the one of the biggest shopping days of the year and certainly one of the busiest. Most retailers report this day as being the highest grossing in overall sales for their fiscal year. Each year, sales fluctuate but the crowds only grow bigger. Not everybody may be buying, but they are definitely out window shopping. For many shoppers, Black Friday is a day to get the best deals and a jump start on their holiday shopping. Many shoppers wait in line for hours to get the best door-busting savings at many large retailers. The chance of getting $5.00 coffee makers and $100.00 television sets is extremely appealing to many. Some shoppers report getting all of their holiday shopping done on Black Friday.
- The day after Christmas may not seem like a busy shopping day, but in fact it is. This is a day when millions are returning those itchy wool sweaters and the bedspread that is only suitable for Fido's dog pen. Many venture out to the stores to return bad gifts and get refunded in cold hard cash or other merchandise. It is a joyous occasion when bad gift recipients can go out and shop for something they really need---like a new pair of tennis shoes or that new movie out on Blue Ray. Gift cards are also in full swing on December 26. Many go shopping for themselves and buy what they really need with the gift card they got in their stocking on Christmas morning.
- Many people don't enjoy venturing out during the holidays---they prefer to stay away from the mass of crowds. Shopping from the comfort of one's computer is becoming extremely popular. Retailers have quickly recognized this and have come up with a viable solution: Cyber Monday. On Cyber Monday, retailers offer exclusive offers and deals to those who shop online. Popular Cyber Monday retailers are JCPenney, Sears and Old Navy. Many of these sales promotions are for a certain time only and are in limited quantity.
- The Easter season welcomes spring and for many---a religious holiday. Easter is also a great time of the year to shop for gifts for filling Easter baskets. Candy is typically the number one thing on many shoppers' lists. Everything from peanut butter eggs to speckled shell chocolate candies---everyone enjoys a little Easter candy this time of the year. Baskets can be filled with plastic grass then filled with chocolate Easter bunnies wrapped in pastel foiled paper. Gifts are often given at Easter as well. CDs, Barbie dolls and toy trucks are often small gifts that many shop for when getting ready to fill an Easter basket. Egg coloring supplies are in high demand and typically fly off the shelf in an attempt to keep up with the demands of crafty shoppers. Many can find good deals and slashed prices the Monday after the holiday, since this is a great time to stock up on items for next year.
- What would one shop for on New Year's Eve? Fireworks, alcohol and food, of course! This is the time to celebrate the New Year and give thanks to a year gone by. Most fireworks stores and stands are filled to the capacity with sparklers and firework fountains. Many party hosts go out and shop for popular alcohol brands such as Captain Morgan, Bacardi, Corona and Bailey's to keep their guests' happy and hopping the whole night through. Shoppers also invade delis and grocery stores in search of seafood trays and chip dips in order to keep party guests satisfied.
