About Beach Parties
A beach party is the perfect way to spend a day or evening with family and friends while enjoying the atmosphere of the water and a sandy beach. A party can take place during the day where food, drinks and games can be played. For a nighttime party, luminaries and a waterside bonfire can be enjoyed under the moonlight. Making sure that permission has been granted for use of the beach should be established before sending out invitations and planning for the party.

Invitations
-
One of the most important elements of party planning is the invitations. Choosing invitations that are welcoming and themed around the beach is a great way to assure a good turnout. Small plastic message bottles from Plum Party Supplies are a great way to invite guests to this type of party. Inside the bottle is a small amount of sand, miniature sunglasses, an umbrella and flip-flops. Include the party date, time and address inside of the bottle, place it in a secure mailer and send it to guests at least two weeks before the party.
Location and Decoration
-
Choosing a beach and reserving an area to have the party needs to be done in advance, unless the beach is private. The beach should be sectioned off to identify the party. This can be done by tiki or propane torches that outline where guests can gather. Having a location that is close to the shore should be sought-after, although consideration should be taken as to when the tide rolls in. Tables can be nestled into the sand and covered with a tropical tablecloth and netted cover, complete with seashells. Candles and fresh tropical flowers create simple centerpieces.
Time of Day
-
It is important that consideration is taken as to what time the party will occur. For daytime beach parties---a tent or shaded location is recommended. Making sure that guests are comfortable is essential. Encourage them to bring swimsuits for a daytime party. For evening and night parties, a bonfire is a way to have an intimate gathering. Hire a band or play tropical music to provide party flair.
Food
-
Many times grilled meat and seafood are the foods of choice for beach parties. Food can be prepared on a gas grill or over a fire pit on the beach. Food can slow cook all day in a barbecue pit if desired. Pork, steak, shrimp, lobster and fresh vegetables are great on any grill. Quick appetizers include s'mores, fruit kabobs, fondue and chocolate fountains. Having a cocktail bar set up in the party area is also recommended. Here, cool drinks and alcoholic concoctions can be created and served to guests. Be sure to keep food cooled and covered outdoors.
Games
-
The games that are played make a good beach party. Beach volleyball is always a hit and the perfect afternoon activity. Divide guests into teams to compete for small beach-themed prizes and sea-inspired gifts such as shell necklaces and beach towels. Twister on the beach can be played as well, the sandy surface offering a new "twist" on the game. Have beach balls, Frisbees, pails and shovels available for children and adults to play with too.
