About Hot Rollers

Using hot rollers produces stunning curls in minutes. From soft, gentle locks to tight ringlets, women can create whatever hairstyle they choose by using hot rollers. Although hot rollers had been put aside for some time, they're coming back into popularity. Probably people who tossed them aside did so because they didn't know how to get the best results out of the rollers or feared drying out their hair. The key is knowing how to use them correctly, as well as applying mousse for moisturizing.

From Quick Guide: Hot Rollers Know How

    Identification

  1. Hot rollers are cylinder-shaped hair rollers for curling hair. They're fitted onto an electric tray containing heating elements. Just before using, the tray is plugged into an electrical outlet to heat the rollers.
  2. Benefits

  3. Hot rollers save time compared to rolling your hair and sitting under a dryer. While getting ready in the morning your curls can set as you accomplish several tasks at once. Hot rollers are generally preferred by straight-haired women because they're easier to use than a curling iron, besides taking less time to use. Using hot rollers can add body to fine hair. For even more volume you can use mousse and then brush it out.
  4. Sizes

  5. Hot rollers come in five sizes ranging from petite to jumbo.
Petite rollers, which are ½ inch, create the tightest curls and for short, fine hair.
Small rollers are ¾ inch, render tight and spiral curls and are typically for shorter hair.
Medium rollers are 1 inch and used mostly on short to medium to fine hair, producing medium curls.
Large rollers (1 to 1 ¼ inches) create loose curls with more body and volume are created using large rollers
Jumbo rollers (1 to 1 ½ inches) are used on thicker, longer hair, making the largest curls.
  6. How to Use Hot Rollers

  7. Plug in your rollers in a room that isn't too humid for firmer lasting curls. Then jump in the shower and wash your hair. After combing wet hair apply a small glob of mousse, massaging it into the roots. For longer, thicker hair, use a tad more. Then comb the mousse through your hair so it's spread evenly. Flip your head to one side, blow-drying it upside--down. When it's moderately dry, brush your hair with a large rounded brush while it completely dries.
When hair is dry, blast your hair with cold hair from the dryer before flipping over. Brush your hair. Take a small chunk of hair (a little less than 2 inches wide but not thick) at the crown of your head and brush through with a big brush. Then, take a roller and tightly roll the piece of the hair with the bottom of the hair around it. Secure roller with a clip. As you continue rolling pieces of hair, move from top to bottom.
  8. Effects

  9. Different sizes of hot rollers create different hairstyling effects. For corkscrew curls, use long thin rollers and roll vertically rather than the usual horizontal way to roll hair. To create soft curls that can turn into waves, use roll large rollers horizontally. Because uniform curls look more artificial, many people use hot rollers in consecutive sizes, achieving a natural look.
Brushing hair immediately upon taking them out can alter hot roller effects. By applying hair products to hair before rolling, you can change the effects of a hairstyle.
  10. Tips

  11. Use a moisturizing mousse the just prior to using hot rollers. You can also use a hair dryer and apply a light mouse, as well as a cream to increase the shine.
Roll each piece of hair with two squares of toilet paper, as this makes the ends consistent, going in the same direction, making the layers lay together.
Using fewer rollers, your curls will be looser.
If you over curl your hair, just blow-dry your curls for a more relaxed look.
  12. Warnings

  13. Never use hot rollers on wet hair.
To roll hair, hold rollers by ends rather than in the middle.
