Similarities
-
Have the children write down five of their favorite colors, foods, drinks and animals. Make a chart listing all of these items, and use stars to count how many children liked each item. Next, pair them up and have them guess which items were their favorite choices. Have the children talk about what they would like about the choices they did not choose, as well.
Count to 20, Count by 5s
-
Form a circle with the children and show them a chart of the numbers 1 to 20 and counting by 5s. Throw a ball up into the air, and the child who catches it gets to start first. That child says, "1," and passes the ball. The next child says, "2," and they continue to count up to 20 while passing the ball around. Then start over by tossing the ball into the air and count by 5s in the same manner. Display the chart, just in case the children do not know.

Red Light, Green Light
-
This is a classic team-building game. Have the children move back as far as they can, then cover your eyes, turn around and say, "Red light, green light, one---two---three!" Before you turn around and open your eyes, the children have to get as close to you as possible, and then stop before you see them. Whoever moves has to go back to the starting point. The winner is the one who reaches you first.
Jumping Rope
-
Take a very long rope and have someone hold the other end. Have the entire group of children stand in the middle of the rope. As the rope turns, all of the children must jump. Keep count of how many jumps they make without stopping the rope.
Tug of War
-
This is another classic team-building game that requires only a rope. Divide the children into two groups and have groups line up, one behind the other, facing the other group. Give the groups one end of each rope and tie a ribbon at the center. Make a mark on the ground to mark the center, as well. Have the groups pull on the rope. The side that pulls the other side well over the center wins!
