About Nero Vision

Creating DVDs or VCDs can be a hassle, but if you want multiple menus, effects or even extra editing done for your videos, then Nero Vision is the program to use. It's easy for beginners and features a lot of extras for advanced users. A DVD can be created in a matter of seconds or minutes, depending on how detailed you want it.

  1. Types

    • For DVDs, the program can either make a permanent DVD-Video or an editable DVD. Editable DVDs must be burned using a DVD-RW disc and may not play in all DVD players. DVD-Video discs are the standard to use in this program.
For CDs, you can create a Video-CD, a Super Video-CD or a Mini-DVD. Each one pretty much creates the same thing, but there is a slight quality difference between them that affects how much video can be stored. For a Super Video-CD, you can store around 40 minutes of video at a high quality. A Mini-DVD stores around 30 minutes, and a Video-CD can store an hour or more in some cases.

    Features

    • The program analyzes and converts video files to make them readable in a DVD player. Once the type of the disc is chosen, the "Content" menu will load. Here, users can import their videos for burning. A bar on the bottom of the program shows how much space is left on the DVD or CD. If users want, they can edit their clips down and even add in custom titles through this menu.

    Function

    • One of the best features to use in Nero Vision is "Chapter Selection." Here you can create separate chapters for every video clip, making DVD navigation for users. You can add as many chapters and label each as well.
Users can also create a photo slide show to a DVD or CD. In their slide-show creator, all pictures are imported and users can place them in any order they would like. A selection of transitions can be placed with each photo, and audio can be added as well. The slide show is then added to the project as a normal video file.

    Menus

    • One of the biggest parts of the Nero Vision program is menu creation. Users have a selection of more than 20 built-in templates that they can apply to their DVD menu, or they can import their own background. These can be still images or moving images, and a preview of the menu is always shown. Every menu can be customized, including special features, chapters and main title menus. Screen shots can be taken from clips to feature each menu button. Buttons can be moved around the menu, and an advanced text editor features multiple fonts, shadows and colors.

    Considerations

    • If you want to add more videos to your DVD and are not concerned with the quality, simply drag and drop them into your project. A prompt will pop up about the video quality and, after pressing "OK," the video is added. Only so much can be added, but you can expand a DVD's use greatly with this function.
After you have created all of the content and menus, test the DVD or VCD with the built-in DVD tester. A mock remote allows you to select all of the functions and make sure everything is there and works OK. After this, the burning process can begin.
