About DirecTV Satellite

DirecTV offers direct broadcast satellite (DBS) service. It is one of the leading companies in the satellite industry. Dish Network is the other satellite provider in the U.S. Cable television businesses compete with these two satellite companies to provide television service to homes across the country. DirecTV provides satellite programming for the United States, Latin America (excluding Mexico) and the Caribbean. It is part of the DirecTV Group, which is operated by Liberty Media.

DirecTV has numerous satellite receivers, including standard receivers for regular satellite programming. HD receivers must be used to view high definition broadcasts. DirecTV has two DVR Plus receivers (standard and HD) that include DVR features such as pause, fast-forward and record. You can also obtain a DirecTV SAT-GO (satellite to go), which is the original portable satellite television system.

DirecTV has exclusive programming rights to the NFL (National Football League) games. A "NFL Sunday Ticket" is offered that consists of every NFL football game played on a Sunday. No other satellite or cable company can offer this unique service. DirecTV also has additional special sports packages for NCAA and NBA basketball, MLB baseball, NHL hockey, NASCAR racing and other sports.
