Adverse Effects of Ganoderma

Ganoderma is a part of the fungi family of mushrooms. It is often called Reishi mushroom. Ganoderma is an over-the-counter herbal remedy that is often used for cancer treatment because it can cleanse the body by eliminating toxins and impurities to help make the immune system stronger and healthier. Ganoderma promotes liver detoxification, which stimulates liver cell regeneration and improves the function of the liver. Ganoderma also consists of anti-cancer agents Germanium and polysaccharides, which help with anti-tumor efficacy. As with any treatment option, however, there is the risk of experiencing adverse side effects.

  1. Identification

    • Negative side effects from taking the herb Ganoderma can occur as part of the healing process. Temporary bodily reactions to Ganoderma can occur when the toxins are being removed from the body, when the circulatory blockage of the body is being cleared and during the improvement of the body's constitution.

    Temporary Adverse Reactions

    • Some common adverse side effects with Ganoderma include stomachache, slightly higher blood pressure, body itch or red pimple-esque dots on the skin, body pain, increased breakouts of acne, skin rash, headache, dizziness, digestive issues and swollen leg. These are all usually temporary effects of Ganoderma use, though not everyone experiences them.

    Prevention/Solution

    • If you find these temporary negative side effects to taking Ganoderma to be unbearable, it might be a good idea to alleviate the symptoms by limiting your Ganoderma dosage to just half. When you feel better, you can choose to increase your dosage back to the full amount again.

    Potential

    • Despite the fact that Ganoderma has the potential to cause negative side effects, it is also sometimes used to ease negative side effects of radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Ganoderma can ease adverse reactions such as fatigue, loss of appetite, hair loss, bone marrow suppression and infection risk. It can also soothe pain during chemotherapy and radiotherapy and lessen the toxic effects of both procedures.

    Warning

    • People who have diabetes and take hypoglycemic drugs should approach taking Ganoderma with care (and absolutely consult a medical professional before doing so), as it can cause the blood sugar to lower. Low blood pressure can occur from using Ganoderma and other derivatives of this kind of herbal medication.
