Basketball Training Centers
For some individuals, basketball training centers can mean the difference between making the team or getting cut. They can also make the difference between a player who can make the winning shot and one who cannot. This is because basketball training centers strengthen players' weaknesses and refine the players' talents, resulting in a highly skilled, well-rounded basketball player.

Purpose
-
Basketball training centers are set up to teach amateurs the basics strategies and techniques that a sound basketball player should possess. For those at a more advanced level, basketball training centers allow players to brush up on their skills, learn new, more advanced techniques and achieve a more sophisticated style of play.
Age
-
Basketball training centers are mostly geared toward a few select age groups, children aged 7 to 12 who need to develop the basic skills of the game, teenagers aged 14 to 17 who need extra practice to prepare for basketball tryouts at their high school, or local league and adults, typically aged 19 to 32 who are basketball professionals and must train during the off-season to prepare for the upcoming season.

Training Sessions
-
Some training programs focus on specific skills such as shooting, rebounding, passing and dribbling. These programs are geared toward individuals who have a good understanding of the game but may have a weakness in one particular area. There are also training programs and camps that focus on certain positions, such as guard or forward. These programs hone in on the skills and responsibilities that individuals who occupy these positions must master in order to be effective members of the team. Many training centers also offer personal training sessions that develop strength, flexibility and speed.
Features
-
Most basketball training centers that host teenagers and adults contain numerous practice courts, locker rooms, a training room, weight-lifting room, coaches' offices, a viewing center where coaches can review footage with players and a lounge area where players can relax before and after games.
Considerations
-
Some basketball training centers require tryouts before a player can be accepted into the program. This is sometimes required because the programs have limited space, usually allowing a maximum of 12 people per session, and cannot spend additional time with any players whose skills are not up to par. This is also necessary because the professionals who run these training centers can recognize whether a player has a natural talent that can be honed or does not possess the proper characteristics, such as height or speed, to achieve his goals at the training center.
