Romantic Bathroom Decorative Art
The bathroom is an intimate place by its very nature. People get naked in there. Those with an eye for design can play up the romantic nature of that intimacy by choosing romantic bathroom art. One of the easiest ways to begin is by choosing a few colors to stick with it, be they a soft pink highlighted with silver, a subtle yellow accented with gold, or stark black and white with flashes of red or purple satin. Does this Spark an idea?

Effects
-
A bathroom decked out with romantic decorative art should feel like a soft, alluring hug the moment someone steps inside it. Colors play a huge part in the romantic effect, as does the type of wall coverings. Bland walls can become artistic by using soft pastels and sea sponges to paint them. Those who would rather focus on the artwork can leave the walls a soft white but choose striking wrought iron or other dramatic pieces to decorate. Romantic often means simple. Those going for romantic decorative art pieces should not overload. Bathrooms are usually small and any large influx of too much is going to make it more like a tight squeeze than a soft, alluring hug.
Extras
-
Romantic bathroom art can include, but is not limited to, paintings, illustrations and other wall art that gives off a romantic mood. These could consist of pastoral settings, soft floral designs and hearts, hearts, hearts. Heart-shaped anything, from mirrors to shower mats, can also add a dash of romance to the bathroom. Iron wall scrolls, wall sconces, decorative shelving units, candle holders, mirror frames and other dainty but striking wrought-iron accessories are another way to add a level of romance to the room.

Fixtures
-
Just because something is functional doesn't mean it cannot be decorative art. Bathroom fixtures, too, can follow along the romantic theme by their color and design. Burnished silver or brass add a lovely touch, with designs that include lean lines, soft curves and rounded knobs. The antique look with a porcelain piece on the knobs also has an aura of romance. Don't forget the doorknobs, which could also be heart-shaped or a soft, fat crystal or burnished metal. The tub can become a focal point by lining its border with soft washcloths or waterproof pillows.
Accessories
-
Candles will immediately add a romantic splash to any bathroom. Arrange several votives in a heart shape on a shelf, arrange others around the sink or tub. Keep the soft scent going with a small glass dish of rose-scented potpourri. Other plush touches include satin or another alluring fabric as a toilet seat cover or draped from the back of the toilet tank. Don't impede any hardware, but arrange it to cover the unsightly and boring top of the tank. Small, decorative baskets or bins to hold bathroom products are another romantic touch, as are towels rolled and placed in baskets on the floor.
Coverings
-
Window and floor coverings are another way to immediately turn the bathroom into a romantic haven. Soft, flowing fabrics work to sashay around the window, as do thick, heavily ornamented brocades and velvets. Follow suit with the shower curtain, making sure to add a liner to protect any fabric that could be ruined if wet. Choose bathmats and area rugs that are extremely plush, thick and a joy on bare feet. Towels, too, should fit the theme and include large, soft, billowing bath towels. Decorative hand towels, either for use or just for show, can be hung from wrought-iron towel holders that match the rest of the artistic accessories.
