Many beach houses have from 1 to 12 bedrooms and from 1 to 10 bathrooms depending on the size of the house. Most accommodate pets and have the added benefits of pools and hot tubs. Although they sit right on the beach, they do offer private beach access and are usually within a short drive to golf courses, fishing, surfing and shops. Beach house rentals are fully furnished, including all linens and kitchen equipment.

There are a few options when it comes to Virginia Beach house rentals including rental cabins, condos, larger vacation homes or bed and breakfast establishments.

Although most cabins are inland, beach lovers can find cabin rentals along the beach if they look hard enough. Technically these will be smaller rental units without the luxury accommodations most vacationers are looking for when the head to Virginia, but for a less expensive excursion, beach cabins are the way to go.

On the flip side of the coin, vacation home rentals on the beach are awesome, but you will pay a price for the extravagance. Meant to sleep anywhere from 2 to 30 people, this is a great way to host a family reunion or special event. Homes are often new construction and modern in all sense of the word. The main feature of the beach rental is of course, the beach, and beachfront views and access are gained with the several thousand dollar weekly rental fees.

Condos can also be rented on the beach, including on Sandbridge beach. Although you don't get the privacy you may have with a beach house, you still get terrific beachfront accommodations at a lower price. Usually sleeping no more than 12 people, condo rentals can be smaller and more suited to a young couple or small family.

Finally, a bed and breakfast establishment on Virginia beach is a great alternative to a larger house rental and gives you an instant source for local information and culture. Many B&B's here are located in historic homes and give you both privacy and a sense of the region that other rentals may not. Nightly rentals are available, so you don't have to break the bank for a nice 3-day weekend.

Plan ahead. Most beach rentals in Virginia book well in advance, and if you are planning a larger gathering of friends and family, you want to ensure you get your pick of larger beach front homes. Many webpages that advertise Virginia Beach vacation homes will have calenders for you to visualize when they are booked and how many days you can squeeze into the existing calender.

Be sure of your travel plans, as many rental deposits are non refundable and changing dates will be near impossible during peak seasons. Deal with reputable leasing agents or, if you find an ad on Craigslist or another public site, check out the leasers carefully before you send money.
