Side Effects of SmartBurn

Smartburn is manufactured by Lovate Health. Smartburn is marketed as allowing users to lose weight quickly, burn fat and control food cravings. The target consumer market is women. The complete formulation is not known because the manufacturer does not list the amounts of each ingredient used in the formulation of the product. The supplement is meant to be used as part of a healthy diet and exercise plan. Before starting to use Smartburn, consult your physician.

  1. Constipation

    • Constipation is a common side effect of weight loss supplements such as Smartburn. Constipation occurs because these supplements increase the amount of fluid excreted from the body via urination and perspiration. The best ways to avoid becoming constipated are to increase fluid intake and employ a meal plan high in fiber content. If the constipation is more severe, the use of a stool softener or laxative may provide some relief.

    Dehydration

    • Smartburn contains ingredients which cause the metabolism to operate at a faster rate. This metabolic rate increase can cause more fluids to be eliminated via perspiration and urine excretion. When taking a diet supplement such as Smartburn, drink more fluids to combat excessive fluid loss which can lead to dehydration. Athletes and people with a rigorous exercise program (three to five days a week or more) should be particularly mindful of avoiding dehydration. Dehydration can increase the chances of damaging muscle tissues, ligaments and tendons.

    Stimulant-Related Issues

    • Smartburn contains the well-known stimulants caffeine, green tea extract, and other ingredients that include trace amounts of caffeine. The manufacturer does not disclose the amount used of any ingredient on the packaging, so the exact amount of stimulants present is not known. Stimulants can cause blood pressure and heart rate to increase. In addition, they can cause sleep issues, such as insomnia, if taken too close to bedtime.

    Nausea

    • Nausea may occur from the use of Smartburn. In general, the nausea will subside three to four days after taking the first dose of Smartburn. In that three- to four-day period, the body should develop a tolerance to the ingredients. If nausea continues to be a health concern while taking the product, consider using a different weight loss supplement.

    Loss of Appetite

    • Smartburn contains hoodia, an herb known to suppress the appetite and curb food cravings. While taking Smartburn, consume at least 1,200 calories per day. If your calorie intake is too low, your metabolism will actually slow down, making it harder to lose weight.
