About The Celebrity Fit Club Diet
The Celebrity Fit Club diet is also known as the Fat Smash Diet. It was created by Dr. Ian K. Smith, who is a nutritionist and panel member for the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Fit Club." It is a diet that concentrates on food restrictions and exercise to achieve and maintain a targeted weight loss.

History
-
The Celebrity Fit Club diet was introduced in 2005 on the TV channel VH1. It also became a book named "The Fat Smash Diet" by Dr. Ian K. Smith in 2006. It is marketed as a lifestyle rather than a diet.
Benefits
-
With one exception (actress Countess Vaughn), all who participated in the Celebrity Fit Club TV series have lost weight. Because of its structure, the Celebrity Fit Club diet is effective for losing weight quickly.

Time Frame
-
The Celebrity Fit Club diet is broken down into four phases and takes 90 days to complete. The first phase, Detox, lasts nine days. The dieter is placed on extreme food restriction during this time. The second phase is Foundation, and lasts three weeks. The dieter can eat more food, but the exercise regimen is increased from 30 to 35 minutes a day, five days a week. The next phase, Construction, lasts four weeks. It also allows increased food choices and enforces increased exercise. The fourth and final phase, Temple, is meant to last a lifetime, with no restrictions on food consumption but a dedication to one hour a day of exercise, five days a week.
Warning
-
The Detox phase of the Celebrity Fit Club diet is considered a crash diet, because it greatly restricts caloric intake. Experts agree that crash diets do not work in the long run, and if this diet is not maintained with dedicated daily exercise, the weight will return.
Effects
-
When paired with exercise, the Celebrity Fit Club diet does produce weight loss, the average loss being 20 pounds by the end of 90 days. It requires discipline, but it can create a medium level of weight loss for those not needing to drastically reduce.
