Projection screens bring a whole new dimension to home theater systems. They provide high quality video for all of your viewing pleasures. Whether it is the local news, a DVD or a movie on television, projection screens offer a great way to enjoy watching them. There are a wide-ranging variety of types, styles and models to choose from.

  1. Function

    • Projection screens are used to watch video in home theater arrangements. Schools and businesses also utilize them in training rooms, auditoriums or boardrooms. It is part of a complete media system, which includes a projector and other components. The video is produced by the projector and viewed on the projection screen. Any one who wants to view an enhanced video picture can get a projector screen and setup.

    Types

    • Projection screens are manufactured in many types. This includes wall, floor or ceiling mounted screens. There are screens available for recessed ceilings, tabletops or large rooms. Other types consist of tripod, inflatable, rear projection, fixed frame and electric models. Most all of these types have several styles available to further categorize them.

    Features

    • The features of the screens differ. Manual projection screens are the least costly and simple to employ. Electric ones are pricier, but can be run with a remote control from your seated position. This type of screen can be mounted with externally or ceiling recessed cases, which hides the screen when it is not being used.

    Identification

    • Projection screens can be permanently tensioned (fixed frame) ones. These are made from fabrics that are stretched over a mounted frame. Portable projection screens can be easily moved and used. Rear projection screens display the picture from the back of the screen or with the use of mirrors. You can get them in portable, electric or manual models.

    Considerations

    • There are a few things to think about when researching projection screens. You must consider the projector you have or want to obtain. It must be compatible with the screen you select. Three other things to keep in mind include the type of mounting you desire, the actual screen surface fabric and the size of the screen. It will depend on what type of room layout you have and your budget, as to which screens you can select.
