Many women use Ortho Tri-Cyclen birth control on a daily basis, in order to prevent pregnancy from occurring. Although research shows that Ortho Tri-Cyclen is highly effective, there are a few things that women should know before using this type of birth control.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen is one of the most popular types of birth control pills on the market today. And even though Ortho Tri-Cyclen is a reliable form of birth control, there are certain side effects that are associated with this birth control method. However, many women are able to cope with these side effects and live a productive life. If you are considering using Ortho Tri-Cyclen, it is important to know which side effects you may experience when using this type of oral contraceptive. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways to reduce and eliminate the unpleasant side effects of Ortho Tri-Cyclen birth control pills.

There are several common side effects that a woman may experience while using Ortho Tri-Cyclen birth control, such as headaches; stomach cramping; nausea; vomiting; dizziness; bloating; vaginal discomfort; breast tenderness; spotting between periods; and an increase in vaginal fluids. Time Frame

If you decide to use Ortho Tri-Cyclen birth control, it is important to realize that you may experience side effects for several months before they completely go away. On the average, it takes about 3 to 4 months for a woman's body to get accustomed to a new birth control method. However, if you continue to experience side effects after the first few months, or if the side effects are severe and painful, you should immediately visit your doctor for an evaluation.

You should avoid smoking or using any type of tobacco products while taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen birth control. Using tobacco products can increase your chances of developing heart problems, blood clots or strokes (especially if you are 35 years of age or older). This may help settle your stomach and decrease certain side effects, such as vomiting, nausea, headaches and dizziness.
