About LED Safety Clothing
LED safety clothing provides more personal safety for outdoor fitness pursuits at night. While walking, jogging or riding a bike at night, you want to be highly visible to motorists. Public safety personnel are also afforded higher visibility through the use of LED safety clothing. Reflective vests with LED lighting allow police, fire and rescue personnel higher visibility to motorized traffic during the performance of their duties.
-
Function
-
LED safety clothing provides the wearer with heightened visibility to others, including motorized traffic. LED lights, added to the reflective materials already found on safety clothing, illuminate the wearer from 400 to 600 meters away.
Types
-
LED safety clothing currently available includes items such as reflective vests, wrist bands, ankle bands and arm bands. The LED clothing is lightweight, easy to put on and does not restrict movement. LED lights are securely sewn into the article of clothing or bands and are powered by batteries for up to 200 hours of use. LED bulbs come in blue or red and remain lit, even if one goes out.
-
Size
-
LED lights are small bulbs that emit a bright light. LED bulbs, backed with reflective strips are brighter due to the ability of the reflective strips to pick up and refract the LED light. Sizes of vests, arm bands, wrist bands, ankle bands or mats will vary and can be determined at the time of order for the consumer.
Considerations
-
LED-enhanced safety equipment and clothing can greatly increase your personal safety. However, you should always wear light colored clothing when walking, jogging or biking after dusk. Light colored clothing enhances the ability of motorists to see you from a greater distance.
Warning
-
You should always check your equipment prior to using it to ensure it is in working order; this applies to safety clothing as well. When biking, you should always check your tires, brakes and chain, check that reflectors are intact and be sure that your helmet is in good condition.
