About Akita Inus

Akita Inus are a Japanese breed of dog. They are the largest of the Spitz breeds of Japan. They are a powerfully built, strong dog with distinctive, unique features. They are generally docile and calm-natured, and makes a wonderful guard dog. The dog originated in Akita on the main Japanese island of Honshu, and that is where it got its name. It is also commonly referred to as "Akita ken," from the Japanese "kanji" reading of its name.
