The beaches along the North Carolina coast are stunningly beautiful and a would-be dream vacation spot for many. The sounds of the ocean, plus attractions like an aquarium, Fort Fischer, museums and golf all make it a terrific choice for a family vacation. Whether it's a once in a lifetime trip or an annual family vacation, renting a beach house in North Carolina is a great idea.

From Quick Guide: Beach Rentals 101

    Function

  1.
A North Carolina beach house rental can be your home away from home on the Outer banks. If you are lucky enough to spend the summer or even just 2 weeks along the coast, finding a beach house rental can really make the vacation a priceless memory. More than just a place to lay your head after a day on Kure beach, a beach house rental can be a party location, a family gathering spot or a quiet retreat after a day of tanning or sightseeing.
  2. Types

  3.
There are a wide variety of beach rentals in North Carolina. There are some new oceanfront properties that are 3 or 4 levels that offer large rentals for family reunions or gatherings. They have large deck areas and sleeping quarters for up to 13 people. These rentals will cost somewhere between $2,000 to $3,000 a week, depending on what time of the year you go.
Condo units are another option. Usually a 2- or 3-bedroom unit will be fully furnished (as all the rentals) and will be within a short walk to the beach. Condo units rent for about $1,100 to $2,200 a week.
Big beautiful homes are available on the outer banks for $500 to $1,400 a week. Right on the beach, this traditional style rental is what people imagine when they think of renting a home on the beach (see Resources below).
  4. Geography

  5.
Bald Head Island, Caswell Beach on Oak Island, Corrola, Kure Beach and Carolina Beach are just some of the locations where beach-front rentals can be found. You'll want to check out the local golf courses and tourist attractions before you book your stay to help you select where you want your rental to be.
  6. Size

  7.
Beach rentals in North Carolina can range from 3-story units to smaller condos. A standard 3-bedroom condo rental will be about 1,200 square feet, while a traditional outer banks home may be upwards of 2,600 square feet.
  8. Considerations

  9.
There is a large difference in rental prices depending on what season you go for your vacation. If you are there to sunbathe, then you'll be paying the premium prices. If you really just want a quiet getaway, off-season is a great chance to save money and enjoy crowd-free vacationing. Take a scarf and still enjoy the beautiful beaches and shops.
