It is rare to find a home-rental service in a small town, unless there is a large number of vacation rentals. Popular tourist destinations, especially those near the beach, ski resorts or famous landmarks, usually have several rental agencies. These agencies usually specialize in travel rentals, where the tenants stay for a week or two while they are visiting the area.

If the service also takes on maintenance duties, a homeowner no longer has to worry about keeping up landscaping, making sure repairs are completed or cleaning the home between renters.
