Imagine waking up in the morning looking beautiful with makeup perfectly applied. Say goodbye to smudged eyeliner that leaves you with dreaded raccoon eyes. Permanent makeup allows you to have the perfect look without having to deal with the hassle of applying it. Putting on makeup is often a time-consuming task and permanent makeup seems like the ideal solution for those of us who don't have time to spare. This makeup is permanent, and you should arm yourself with as much information as possible.

    Identification

  1. Micropigmentation is a procedure that implants colored pigment, most often iron oxide ink into the dermis, or the middle layer of the skin. Colors are carefully selected to complement your skin tone. It is considered permanent makeup because the color does not wash off. Touch-ups may be necessary every 1 to 3 years. The rate that color fades may vary according to your skin, environment and the color that was used.
  2. Types

  3. Lip liner and lip color can give you fuller or pouty lips. Lips may become thinner or uneven due to aging, the sun or a medical condition. Lip liner can give the lips a more defined look as well as even out an irregular lip line. Permanent eyebrows are recommended for those that have very thin, light or have no eyebrow hair. Eyebrows are essential to the perfect look because they convey emotion before you speak a word. You can choose to tattoo your upper and lower lash line to give the appearance of fuller lashes. There is also areola restoration for those that have had breast cancer and choose breast reconstructive surgery. Those that have alopecia or other medical conditions which results in an absence of hair can have tattoos that imitate their hair.
  4. Benefits

  5. If you get an experienced tattooist, there are many things that are great about permanent makeup. No more common makeup mistakes such as smudged lipstick or color that bleeds outside of your lip line. Your eyeliner won't disappear or smudge during humid weather. Feel free to jump in the pool without wreaking havoc on your makeup. No need to constantly reapply your makeup. Permanent makeup is ideal for athletes or people that have a very active life. It may also be an option for those that have facial scars or birthmarks that they would like to conceal. Those that have scars from traumatic injuries or surgery may benefit from this procedure. Those that have arthritis, vision problems or a nervous system disorder which makes applying makeup difficult could also benefit.
  6. Warning

  7. Removing permanent makeup is extremely difficult and expensive. The colors that you choose may look outdated as styles change each season. If an untrained tattooist injects the color into deeper layers of your skin, it can blur. Some clients complain that the eyeliner or eyebrow tattoo is too dark and thick. Eyeliner may also be tattooed lower than the lash line. Eyebrows may be tattooed too high on the arch, giving you a surprised look. Eyebrow color that is tattooed very dark may turn bluish or gray as it fades. Common mistakes involving lip liner is that it is too blotchy, lines look crooked or outside of their normal lip line. Also remember that most color used today is iron based. If you attempt to remove it with a laser, the color turns black. Other people say that their face looks too "made up" and it looks unnatural. Some say it has ruined their life because the mistakes have lowered their self-esteem and has created extensive emotional damage.
  8. Considerations

  9. Please do your research. This can not be stressed enough. There are too many horror stories out there because clients failed to ask the proper questions. This is not the time to shop for technicians as you would buy a new pair of shoes. Don't just open up your phone book and pick a technician at random. Get to know her as well as you can. This is your body and the work done will affect you the rest of your life. Know if your technician complies with OSHA safety standards. Single-use needles and supplies that come in their own individual packaged should be used. This can minimize your chance of infection. Your technician should also supply you with a list of the ingredients that she will be using. While very rare, allergic reactions have been known to occur with tattoo inks. Ask your technician about the trade associations that she belongs to. Ask her what happens if you are unsatisfied with the overall result. This is the most common complaint and some technicians become rude when their clients come back for help in corrective work. Know that there is no standard training requirement in this field.
