About Dog Cookies

Treating your pet is a natural desire. We love to give our children and loved ones good things to eat, so naturally we want our animal friends to have the same treats and rewards. Making sure they get what is good for them can sometimes be tricky. Dog cookies are made especially for our canine friends, and are a safe and healthy snack.

    Function

  1. Providing your pet with a treat that he wants is healthy and good for him is the basic function of a dog cookie. You do not want to give your pet something bad for him, such as chocolate, which could actually harm him. Choose a tested alternative for your dog.
  2. Types

  3. Making dog cookies at home is as easy, and more cost effective, than buying them. There are multiple recipes available on the internet, and it simply takes a little time and a little work. If making your own cookies does not appeal to you, there is a dizzying variety available at pet retailers and in grocery stores. In shapes from bones to fish to leather strips, dog cookies come in many shapes and sizes.
  4. Size

  5. Dog cookies can be as large as your arm or as small as your finger. They are made in ridiculously large sizes to accommodate the largest breeds. On the other end of the extreme, toy breeds can have dog cookies no bigger than your pinky.
  6. Effects

  7. Generally dog cookies are a healthy snack for your dog. But, as with anything, too much is never a good thing. Too many dog cookies can lead to stomach upset, obesity, constipation and/or diarrhea. Save the cookies for a treat, and do not make them part of your dogs everyday diet.
  8. Benefits

  9. By giving your dog treats, you can train him more easily, as he will be much more content and happy. With most dogs, the path to their heart is truly through their stomach, so dog cookies can be a very good thing. In addition, the more expensive treats have lots of vitamins and coat enhancers in them, so they are very healthy for your pooch.
