About Aries

Aries is one of the 12 astrological signs. Like the other signs, certain characteristics or traits are associated with Aries. This does not mean that all Aries share a common personality. Instead, it provides a general profile of an individual. Some of these things may be right on and some may be highly inaccurate. However, astrologers believe that the annual passage of the Sun through the zodiac can be used to explain or even predict behavior.

If you were born between March 21st and April 20th, you are an Aries. Since spring marks the beginning of a new zodiac year, Aries is the first astrological sign. Interestingly, Aries are known to be leaders, not followers, and somewhat self-centered. Aries tend to be goal-oriented and competitive, which is important in the workforce. They are also likely to initiate change.

Features

The symbol of the ram is appropriate for Aries because both are strong and determined. Aries are hot-tempered and are not afraid to lock horns with those who oppose them. The planet associated with Aries is Mars, often referred to as the angry red planet. Mars was the god of war in Greek mythology. Dominance, another common characteristic of Aries, is reflected in the star stone associated with Aries, the diamond. Diamonds are considered the strongest and greatest stone, traits that are also representative of Aries. Red is the color associate with Aries, which aptly represents their fiery passion.

Significance

Aries are self-starters. Their high energy and great imagination lead them to take on new challenges. They are focused on efficiency and getting things done. As such, they tend to do things themselves or oversee the work of others. They are extroverted individuals, lively and adventurous. Due to their self-confidence and objectivity, they are unlikely to seek advice from others. Also, they tend to not get sick often and recover quickly in the event that they do fall ill.

Effects

Aries are passionate people. They are often energetic, self-motivating and take on challenges head on. However, their tendency to be straightforward can be perceived as blunt or thoughtless by others. They can also be impatient or aggressive. Socially, Aries are outgoing but they can be stubborn and selfish. Feelings are usually kept to themselves and expressions of emotion are difficult.

Significance

The personality traits associated with Aries are at odds with a number of the other signs of the zodiac. For example, they are incompatible with Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Aries seek out relationships with others who will challenge them mentally and physically. Cancers are emotional and shy away from confrontation. Libras lack imagination that Aries thrives on. Capricorns are too conservative and reluctant to be adventurous.
