Features
-
Along with the ability for the child to take control of the wheel, Power Wheels come with other features as well. The Cadillac Escalade, Barbie Jammin' Jeep Wranger and the Jeep Hurricane all come equipped with FM radios for children to play music from. Certain custom models come with enlarged back speakers for louder music. ATV versions like the Kawasaki KFX Ninja, or smaller duplications of their real-life counter part, feature highly detailed decals that display ATV parts. A lot of the larger models equipped for two people feature doors and many of the models for older children come with trunk space to store snacks and toys.
Function
-
All of the Fisher-Price Power Wheels are powered by a battery, usually 12-volt batteries. The Power Wheels also feature two speeds, 2.5 MPH and 5 MPH, but there is a high-speed lock out for inexperienced riders that limit how fast they go. Many of the Power Wheels are equipped with reverse function that works in rough terrain. There are gas and brake pedals featured on every model so children can stop and go as they please.
Considerations
-
If you are interested in purchasing a Power Wheel, you should consider the amount of land available for its use. A fenced yard is the best place to operate one, and running it on trimmed grass will not drain the battery too fast. Operating the Power Wheels on a paved area, like a driveway, will give the best performance and battery life. Helmet use is recommended for younger users of Power Wheels because, while they are hard to tip over, accidents may occur.

My son was out playing with the neighbor's son and his cousins yesterday. The neighbor ran over my son with his own Power Wheels Jeep Hurricane! I took him to the emergency room. He had a few abraisions on his leg leg, but today he is compaining that his lip hurts under is "bridge" where the two front teeth will eventually grow in. Who is responsible for the medical/dental bills/co-pays?
