- One excellent way to get rid of blackheads is by putting beta hydroxy acid (also known as salicylic acid) on the face regularly. Salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and allows dead skin cells to be rubbed off, opening up the pores. When the pores are opened, the blackheads rise up to the surface. And, getting rid of them is a lot easier.
- An easier way to get rid of blackheads might be to moisturize your facial skin on a nightly basis using a warm, damp washcloth. Boil the washcloth beforehand as to not introduce extra bacteria to the face. The washcloth should be left on the face for between fifteen and twenty-five minutes. This will loosen up (and then dissolve) the dead skin, dirt and other clogging particles.
- Try using a clay mask to absorb any excess oils that might be lingering on your face. Make sure the mask does not contain potentially irritating ingredients such as peppermint or mint. The pore-clogging oils should be absorbed by this mask. You can also try using oil-absorbing blotting papers for this purpose as well.
- Cleansers that contain 2.5% of benzoyl peroxide are wonderfully effective at removing blackheads. Benzoyl peroxide is a popular anti-bacterial agent and is a main ingredient in many acne products. If you make sure to purchase a facial cleanser that contains at least 2.5% of benzoyl peroxide, it should work great for removing those irritating blackheads.
- To get rid of blackheads and to prevent them from coming back, it's a good idea to stop using makeup and skin treatments with oil bases. Oil-based products clog the pores because unlike water-based products, the body can't break them down naturally. Look for non-comedogenic products instead, which are clog-free.
