Military jetThe main goal in hosting a military-themed birthday party is to transform guests into feeling as though they are in a military or army setting. Utilizing camouflage, model airplanes and navy ships as accents, transforming the party location from a civilian to military atmosphere is easy. Military-themed parties are a great way to celebrate the military and the guest of honor while enjoying a party that includes military-inspired food, planned party activities and military music. -
CamouflageCreate a hand-written invitation on a parachute toy and send it to younger guests. For adults or teens, a camouflage-inspired invitation stating the location and time is sufficient. In the invitations, encourage guests to wear camouflage attire to the party. Decorate the party area with green, yellow and brown streamers; hang from the ceiling and around tables for military-inspired decor. Fill up green or camouflaged balloons with helium and have them anchored to corners of the room. Purchase camouflage centerpiece tanks online and set them at the party tables (see Resources below). Scatter plastic military toys throughout the party area as well. -
Display the American flag proudly in a prominent location at the party such as the entryway; make this the main focal point of the party decor. Decorate tables with camouflage tablecloths or fabric. Set the tables with disposable camouflage plates, cups and tableware. Serve military-inspired food such as chili or hot dogs, chips and beans. Serve bottled water and drinks to guests. Order a military-inspired cake in the shape of an airplane or ship. Play military music in the background such as "Hail to the Chief" and "Forward March."

Birthday presentConsider having goodie bags prepared for guests. Fill the goodie bags with small items such as dog tags, camouflage pencils, small toy military planes and GI Joe figurines, toy tanks and candy. A pinata shaped like a military plane will provide lots of fun for the younger set. Consider taking pictures of the party, especially as the guest of honor opens presents, and then later create a military-themed scrapbook that highlights events and pictures from the party. -
Tug of warPlaying military-inspired games at the birthday party will keep guests entertained. Create an army obstacle course for guests to compete in. Set up tires for guests to walk through as well as tall ropes for them to climb. Send them through a muddy course that they will have to crawl through to get out and then have them retrieve a prize at the end of the course. A paintball tournament is also a good game for the party--just be sure to provide paintball guns as well as protective gear for guests. A tug of war game between guests is also a good way to implement the military theme to the party.
