Fraternity Theme Parties
Fraternity parties are a regular part of life for many college students. One reason these parties are more popular than regular events held in apartments is the themes of the frat parties. Here is a small list of fraternity party themes.
Graffiti: People wear a plain white shirt and bring markers. They then sign each other's shirts during the party.
Era Party: Dress up in 70s/80s/90s clothes and only play music from that particular decade.
Pajama Party: Everybody comes wearing their pajamas.
Beach Party: Small "kiddie pool" and other summer decorations. Everybody comes wearing their swim wear.
Blacklight Party: Same as graffiti party except only "blacklight pens" are used. Turn the blacklights on a few hours after the party has started to see what has been written on you and others.
Features
-
Regardless of the theme there are some things you'll find at most fraternity parties. Expect to drink cheap beer from either a keg or cans. Most frats refuse to have bottled beer for fear of shattered glass. Most fraternity parties will have tables for drinking games such as beer pong and flip cup. You can also expect there to be plenty of loud dance music and an area for dancing.
Decorations are determined by the type of party. A basic fraternity party will be dimly lit in order to give the appearance and feel of a dance club.
Benefits
-
Fraternities use the entry fee for these parties as a way to fund special events and trips. These parties also attract new members to the frat. Non-members use these parties as a way to meet new people and let off steam after a week of school work. Some college students go to fraternity parties with the sole goal of taking part in a "one night stand."
Warning
-
Fraternity parties can have serious consequences if any illegal activities take place. A frat can lose its charter if it is discovered that underage drinking has been taking place at parties. Underage students who are caught drinking at a frat party can be put on academic probation and even get kicked out of school.
Fraternity parties can also be dangerous to your health. Many students feel compelled to drink more than they can handle. Excess drinking can lead to alcohol poisoning which can kill a person if not taken care of at a medical facility.

Fraternity members should consider throwing theme parties that will be relatively cheap. A graffiti party, for example, costs hardly anything as it's the guests who bring the "decorations." Inexpensive beer is an way to get the most out of your entry fee.
Non-members should become friendly with any fraternity members in a class or ones you have met at a party. This will ensure that you will get into even the most exclusive frat parties.
