Sony Laptops With Built-in Cameras
Every new Sony laptop comes with a standard built-in camera. These new laptops are part of the Sony Vaio series, and they do a lot more than just provide a camera for consumers.
-
Types
-
The Sony Vaio series comes in seven models. These models are the TT, Z, SR, CS, NS, FW and AW. All the models slightly differ from each other. You can also purchase older models from Sony's Outlet Store, but those models do not come guaranteed with built-in cameras, so you have to read the specifications on each one.
Function
-
The Vaio's built in camera, known as the Motion Eye, is located on the top edge of every model's monitor. The small rectangle-shaped camera provides access to live Web feeds, recording short video clips and can also take pictures using all of the built-in software.
Sony Vaio laptops are built for performance and quality, but they are also designed with style in mind. The FW series features a wave-like design that can be seen from the side. The NS series features rounded corners for easy removal from storage, and TT series is made with SSD drives that make no sound when you use them. -
Features
-
Every model in the series features an expanded hard drive that is great for editing and storing multi-media files. The biggest capacity is available on the AW series of laptops--they can have hard drives with 1 terabyte of space. Memory can also be expanded in the laptops, up to 4 gigabytes on every model, but the FW and AW can be expanded to 8 gigabytes of memory.
Identification
-
Every laptop in the series features the signature Sony Vaio logo on the back. Each model comes in different colors that range from black, gray, pink, silver and red. Each color is painted on in a sleek design and the keyboards are either dark black or silver. The keys on the keyboard are evenly spread out a little wider than a traditional keyboard, and right below the touchpad is a fingerprint scanner for added protection to the laptop.
Screen sizes vary for each model, with the largest being 18.4 inches on the AW series, and the smallest being 11.1 inches on the TT series. USB and disc drives are located on the sides of the laptops, and all of the laptops have the options of being equipped with a Blu-Ray DVD disc player.
Considerations
-
Purchasing a Sony laptop removes the bulkiness that an add-on Web camera will add to a computer. The laptops also feature built-in TV tuners and HD monitors that can potentially replace the TV in your home. The laptops are compatible with a full remote control and can act as a digital TV by displaying local and national HD channels along with Blu-Ray movies.
If you have an old laptop that you are looking to upgrade, you can trade it in using Sony's exchange system. Sony will value your old laptop and then give you credit towards a new one by trading it in.
