About Electric Dryers
Electric dryers save people a lot of work. Instead of taking wet clothing outside, pinning it to the clothesline, waiting for it to dry, bringing it back in, and then ironing out all the wrinkles, you can just throw the clothes in the dryer for an hour and they will come out nice and fluffy. Usually, you don't even need to iron them after drying them. There are many types of electric clothes dryers on the market today. Does this Spark an idea?

History
-
Clothes dryers were first invented in the early nineteenth century in England and France. One such dryer looked like a ventilated barrel that was turned by crank over a fire. This method of drying clothes held some obvious dangers, but it was wonderful in the winter when drying clothes outside was impractical. In 1892, George Sampson of the United States invented a similar clothes dryer that used heat from the kitchen stove to dry the clothes in a ventilated barrel. Electric clothes dryers as we know them today first appeared in 1915, and the basics of this appliance have remained the same since then.
Significance
-
Electric clothes dryers have had a significant impact on the way we live today. Laundry is much simpler because of electric clothes dryers. People who live in big cities do not have to hang their clothes out the window to dry, and people who live in harsh climates can stay indoors while they do their laundry.

Types
-
Spin dryers spin the water out of clothing very quickly, in a matter of minutes. These dryers are very energy efficient, but they do not completely dry the clothes.
Heated dryers spin while bringing in air from the room and heating it up to aid with drying the clothes. This type of dryer is inexpensive, but it isn't very energy efficient.
Condensation dryers work much like traditional dyers, but they use a heat exchange process that is more energy efficient. Condensation dryers take longer to dry a load of laundry.
Heat pump dryers recycle the heat used to help dry the clothes. They can be quite energy efficient, depending on the model.
Features
-
An electric clothes dryer is a very simple machine. It requires three components: a rotating tumbler that holds the laundry, a heater that heats up the air, and an exhaust vent for the air to pass out of the dryer and out of the house. In addition to these elementary components, many dryers boat extra features like sweater drying racks, lower temperatures for more fragile fabrics, and more.
Considerations
-
Although electric clothes dryers are pretty low maintenance as far as appliances go, it's important to clean out the vents periodically. The lint vent should be cleaned after every load, but the exhaust vent should also be cleaned. Every couple of months, pull the dryer away from the wall and vacuum out the exhaust vent. This will reduce your chances of having a house fire.
Function
-
When shopping for a clothes dryer, you will see that there are gas dryers and electric dryers. Gas dryers are usually more expensive, but most consumers find that operating costs are lower for gas dryers than for electric dryers. There are several reasons for this. First, gas is often cheaper than electricity, but this is not always true. Secondly, gas dryers heat up faster than electric dryers. Consider how long it takes for an electric stove burner to heat up compared with a gas stove burner. It's the same for dryers. This makes it possible for a gas dryer to dry the clothes in less time than an electric dryer could.
