Personalized Stamps
The USPS has always stood by their position that postal stamps could only feature dead or fictional characters until advances in technology created a want and need for a new kind of stamp. Instead of placing stamps on envelopes featuring past Presidents or Bugs Bunny, your letters can now have picture of yourself or even your own child!

Features
-
Personalized stamps are available exclusively through Stamps.com. You create and access your own stamps by creating a personal account and uploading pictures onto the website. Once uploaded, you crop and choose the portion of each picture that you want to place on the stamps. You can get differently priced stamps for regular letters, oversized letters, postcards, and even priority mail. The price for a sheet of 20 stamps includes the basic stamp rate plus a charge of $5-$10 for using the service and shipping.
Types
-
Personalized stamps are useful for any type of letter and can have different themes for them. One of the more popular themes is wedding announcements, but you can also use the stamps to showcase children, pets, holiday cards, special events, artwork, and company logos.

Misconceptions
-
Even though you can put any picture you want onto the stamp, they must be personal pictures that do not have any copyright infringement. For example, you cannot create a personalized stamp of the Pepsi logo.
The USPS accepts these personalized stamps as personal postage, but they are not officially released by them. The USPS still only releases fictional characters or the deceased on their stamps.
Benefits
-
Creating a personalized stamp can add a lot to a letter you are sending. Not only will the recipient want to keep the letter, but the envelope can become a keepsake as well. For businesses who want personalized stamps, the logo can become free a free advertisement for anyone who views the stamp. This will also create a more professional look for your letters.
Identification
-
Personalized stamps are a little bit bigger than regular stamps, but small enough to fit nicely onto any sized envelope. The image area is 1.1 inches by 1.1 inches and appear on the left side of the stamp. The right side features a small "stamps.com" logo, a barcode, and the amount that the stamp is worth.
