About Clubs in Puerto Rico
The beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico has a very vibrant and lively nightlife culture, with a many popular clubs, especially in the capital city of San Juan. Most people think of the Caribbean as being laid back with beaches and relaxation, but after one look at the exciting San Juan club scene, you will definitely change your mind. Here is some more information about the clubs in Puerto Rico.

Benefits
-
Some of the benefits and best things about going to clubs in Puerto Rico include the (seemingly) endless nights, incredible Latin salsa music, authentic rum drinks and "party parades" of people hopping in and out of one club to another (particularly in nightlife-heavy areas like Isla Verde). With excellent drinks, like mojitos and rum punches, the alcohol is as vibrant and colorful as the nightclub itself.
Warning
-
Getting a drink at the nightclubs of San Juan in particular isn't exactly cheap. Be prepared to pay mainland "big city" prices for common drinks such as a mojito or a martini (especially along the street Calle Fortaleza). One of these drinks can set you back approximately $8, or even more depending on what club you happen to be visiting. So running from one club to another can get rather expensive, especially if you plan on doing it for a few hours.

Expert Insight
-
One of the most popular clubbing streets in San Juan is the always bustling Calle Fortaleza (located in the city's Old Town). The fashion sense of the club-goers in this area is extremely high, with most of the women in designer attire, looking as they just stepped straight off the runway. For men, stylish slacks and shirts are a must-have. Women tend to have a lot of makeup on, stilettos and rather short skirts.
Considerations
-
If you are into cheaper drinks and perhaps a more casual crowd than Calle Fortaleza, walk over to San Sebastian Street. If you are near the Del Morrow Fort, you will find a lot of laid back live music venues, pubs and clubs. This is a great place to look for low-priced drink specials--you can often find beers for about $1.50 here. Also, U.S. currency is accepted in these clubs, and it's a good idea to always carry cash on you, because not all of these establishments accept credit cards.
Types
-
Some of the best clubs along the relaxed San Sebastian Street include El Cafe Seda, Rumba, Nono's and The Nuyorican Cafe. Along Calle Fortaleza, some of the most hopping and fashionable night spots are Dragon Fly, Blend, Sonne, Milk, Fratelli and Pink Skirt (a club with a mod/retro flair and with insanely late hours--try 6:00 a.m. on a weekend night). From fashion to cheap drinks, live jazz music, restaurants and salsa dancing, these clubs have it all.
