Little Chapel of the FlowersThe ready availability of wedding chapels has made Las Vegas a mecca not only for gamblers, but also for brides and grooms in search of a ceremony and honeymoon venue rolled into one. For the city of Las Vegas, this has added a significant amount of revenue to its coffers. The Review Journal (see Resources below) quotes statistics by the Nevada Wedding Association that shows Clark County---where Las Vegas is situated---having consistently 5 percent and above of the American wedding market. This translates into a lot of money changing hands, even if a marriage license only costs $55 and the cheapest kind of wedding may be had for only $50. -
Viva Las Vegas Wedding ChapelThere are various types of wedding chapels in and around Las Vegas. Some specialize in the traditional wedding in a little church that appears to mimic an old country setup. Other churches, such as those found inside the more expensive hotels, are opulent and provide a high-end wedding experience. Still other wedding chapels cater to the couples' hobbies or fantasies. One such chapel is the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, (see Resources) which offers themed wedding packages for those wanting to marry inside a tomb, in a graveyard, against a Western-themed backdrop, or simply prefer a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" wedding. For a price, the minister will dress up as Alice Cooper, Elvis Presley or Liberace. -
Little White Chapel Tunnel of LoveLas Vegas wedding chapels have long been the answer to those couples who do not want a big, fancy wedding, or who would like to elope. Since Vegas weddings can be as simple or as elaborate as the couple is willing to pay for, the bare-bones features of any Vegas wedding are a Nevada marriage license and a picture ID that provides proof of the ages of the bride and groom. Once these prerequisites are satisfied, the other features of a Las Vegas wedding are up to the tastes of the couple. This has led to the creation of drive-through weddings, at the Little White Chapel Tunnel of Love (see Resources), where bikers love to bring an entourage for the actual ceremony. -
Little White ChapelIt is interesting to note that Las Vegas wedding chapels do not only cater to those who are ready to tie the knot for the first time. Instead, they also offer vow renewals to vacationing couples. Sometimes these vow renewals are actually part and parcel of a holiday trip, while at other times it is the mood of the moment that propels a husband and wife to be married all over again by a minister or Elvis impersonator. Some chapels, such as the Little White Chapel, have begun crafting entire renewal packages. Vow renewals are another lucrative aspect of the Las Vegas wedding industry that is often forgotten, since they do not require a marriage license. - It is a common misconception that Las Vegas wedding chapels cater to couples in which at least one party is drunk or otherwise not in full possession of his faculties. This is not usually the case. The marriage license office has decided to close its doors from midnight until 8 a.m. to avoid exactly this kind of behavior, and no marriage licenses are issued during the times when heightened inebriation may lead to unwise marital decisions.
