Baby Shower Memory Games
A baby shower is a rite of passage for first-time moms and is a wonderful way to celebrate the impending birth of a new baby. To make the experience unforgettable for the parents-to-be, plan inventive and fun games to create fantastic memories that can be passed on to the baby as he or she grows up. Does this Spark an idea?

Types

One type of memory game tests the memory of the guests, like the Baby Basket Game. To play, put together a small basket with ten to fifteen baby items inside, such as a diaper and diaper pin, baby lotion, teether and pacifier. Pass the basket around the room and ask guests to study the items. Afterward, have guests try to list the contents of the basket from memory. The winner gets a prize and mom gets the basket.
Features
-
Another kind of baby shower memory game helps to create a memory for the baby and family. If the parents have already decided on the baby's name, try the name game. Set a timer for ten minutes. Have guests write an acrostic poem using the letters of the baby's name. You may even suggest a particular theme for the poem (such as advice for the new parents.) The group votes on the best poem and the winner receives a prize. Mom gets all poems at the end of the shower for placement in the baby book.

Considerations
-
A different baby shower memory game to try is "Who Knows Me Best." In this game, the baby shower hostess creates a list of questions about the parents to be. These questions may include subjects such as when the parents met or were married, where they honeymooned, favorite foods, baby or pregnancy related questions or any other appropriate theme specific to the parents and their situation. Ask the questions aloud and have guests write down their answers. Then have the expectant parents answer each question. The guest with the most right answers gets a prize.
Identification
-
Have each guest bring a copy of one of their baby pictures as well as a current photo. Collect all photos at the beginning of the party and place them on a piece of poster board in random order, with the baby photos numbered and the current photos lettered. At game time, ask each guest to try to match the baby photo to the current photo, and the one who gets the most correct answers receives a prize. Since the photos are copies, you could also put these in a memory book for the parents.
Effects
-
Help start baby's savings account by playing this amusing game with a piggy bank. As guests arrive, give each a name tag with a baby-related nick-name. For example, use names like "Diaper" or "Binky." Explain to guests that calling another guest by their real name instead of their nick-name means putting money into the bank. By the end of the shower, you'll have a tidy little sum for starting baby's first bank account. Word of warning: if you plan to play this game, give guests a heads up before the shower or provide a roll or two of quarters for those who don't carry cash.
