The Hartford's automobile insurance is intended for the coverage of four-wheeled passenger vehicles that the policy-holder uses as his primary mode of transportation. There are several different types of automobile insurance policies.
Liability protects the occupant of another vehicle if the policy-holder is found to be at fault in an accident.
Collision insurance coverage protects the policy-holder, and any passengers in the vehicle, in the event of an accident.
Comprehensive coverage protects the vehicle in case of theft, damage or other loss of service when the vehicle is not in motion.
Uninsured and under-insured coverage protects the policy-holder in the even that an uninsured motorist, or someone with inadequate insurance, is found to be at fault in an accident. - Homeowners insurance protects property and valuables in the event of damage or theft. Accidents such as fire or vandalism, as well as burglary of the property, are covered. Homeowner's insurance also covers legal costs and the price of any judgment against the policy-holder in the event of a legal proceeding. Finally, homeowners insurance covers the medical bills of a person is injured on the policy-holder's property.
- Homeowners insurance does not cover flood or earthquake damage by default. A house damaged by either of these events, as well as other "acts of God," or war, will not be covered under an average homeowner's policy without a specific "rider." Each region in the United States is subject to different rider conditions.
